How We Rate eSIM Providers

Choosing an eSIM provider depends on more than just price. Coverage, plan structure, and usability all affect how well a service works in real travel conditions. This page explains how we evaluate eSIM providers and how the editorial scores on esim.rodeo are calculated.

What Our Ratings Mean

All provider ratings on this site are editorial scores, not user ratings.

  • No user voting system is used
  • Scores are not aggregated from third-party platforms
  • Each provider is evaluated using the same criteria
👉 The goal is to make providers comparable across the same framework.

Scoring System & Infographic

Infographic showing 4 categories: Pricing (30%), Coverage (25%), Ease of Use (25%), and Plans (20%) combining into a Final Score out of 10

Scoring Overview

Each provider is evaluated across four categories:

We look at:
  • number of supported countries
  • availability of regional plans
  • consistency across destinations
  • access to high-speed networks (4G/5G where available)

3. Ease of Use (0-10)

Ease of use focuses on how simple it is to choose and activate a plan.

We look at:
  • clarity of plan catalogue
  • filtering and navigation
  • checkout process
  • delivery and activation
Lower scores are given when:
  • plan differences are not explained
  • filters are missing or limited
  • important details are hard to find

4. Plans (0-10)

This category evaluates how flexible and useful the available plans are.

We look at:
  • variety of plans (fixed, unlimited, long-duration)
  • flexibility in data and duration
  • suitability for different travel scenarios
  • availability of multi-country plans

How the Final Score Is Calculated

The final score is a weighted average of all categories.

Formula
Final Score =
